Come learn about how to harvest and use medicinal plants at the Beacon Food Forest. local Herbalist Natalie Hammerquist will be teaching this two hour workshop aimed at kick starting your journey of using plants at medicine. Learn about herbs to heal wounds, break fevers, stimulate the immune system and more. The class will cover the practicalities of herbalism, such as when and how to harvest particular plants, how to dry them, and how to use them. Come with a notebook and ready to learn at Natalie’s fast and quippy pace!

About the teacher: Natalie is an educator and clinical herbalist in Seattle, Washington. Her approach combines Western Herbalism with Chinese Medicine, and she feels particularly passionate about the importance of holistic thinking at this time in history. Her areas of particular interest are physical assessment (tongue, pulse, body reading) and using herbs to cultivate emotional balance. She also loves to forage and grow medicinal plants of all kinds, because cultivating a direct relationship with the living plant is not only educational but very healing. All in all, she is an empiricist at heart who loves experimentation and exploration into the possibilities of nourishing and strengthening our bodies and souls.
